tHE BIKES

All four bikes are Harley Davidson XL 1200 Sportsters. These bikes are not big interstate armchairs, but are perfect for the tree lined twistys and mountain passes you will be riding. Like all Harleys, the 1200s are powered by an air cooled V-twin with bags of character and torque. Yes, they shake, rattle and roll within their steel frame, but the rubber mounted engine blocks keep vibration to a minimum. The bikes all have feet-forward footpegs, tall bars and custom seats. All four bikes have had aftermarket work done, such as air filters and exhausts, giving them plenty of power when required and that awesome Harley sound. They are all very low mileage, and are given a service check after every trip.

the gear

We have a collection of saddlebags and top bags that can outfit all the bikes, however if you wish to bring your own feel free. All are easily detached and reattached to the bikes, and can comfortably hold enough luggage for one rider for the duration of the trip, so no need to strap a suitcase to the back! Protective gear is not provided, so you will need to bring your own helmets, jackets, gloves and anything else you wish to bring, but remember, it can get pretty hot!

the people

Like all big ideas, you always need a couple of nutters crazy enough to give it a go. John and Bob were just that, seen below 'wrenchin' as our colonial cousins call it, on one of the bikes, fitting new tyres.

Bob is originally from England but came over to the USA in the 1800s. He has lived and worked in  New England all his life and knows every nook and cranny, twist and turn, mountain and valley. He will be your primary guide, support guy, translator and fixer for the duration of your ride.

John is the UK based contact and the guy you will talk to, to put your trip together (07715 5713432) He has been travelling around the USA on motorcycles for many years and had the original idea to get this venture together, and of course, leaving all the hard work to Bob.

Jake is Johns son, the one taking this photo and the one who put this website together. He will also be involved with the bookings and day to day stuff, as time allows.
